Losing weight is a difficult enough task as it is, however there are some areas on the body where fat is more stubborn and harder to get rid up such as hips and inner thighs. Unfortunately the only way to shift fat from these areas is by doing general cardiovascular exercise, although this still won’t promise you the results you are after. So, more and more people are turning to surgery to at least kick start their weight loss regime, in the hope that they see results faster and have the motivation they need to stick to it. One procedure which is becoming increasingly popular is liposuction. Although you have probably heard of liposuction, chances are you do not have an expansive knowledge on it and are likely to be sitting there asking yourself what is liposuction?

Firstly, it is important to note that liposuction is not a good or adequate alternative to exercising. If you have tried to exercise and the desired fat is not budging then this is for you, if you do not want to exercise and think liposuction can produce you with a quick fix do not be so foolish. You will need to exercise after you have this surgery, so attempt to exercise before you get it.

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgical operation which removes fat from undesirable parts of the body. The areas which you can opt to get liposuction is vast, from; hips, back, thighs to the neck! It is also known as lipoplasty, both of these refer to a suction assisted fat removal or fat remodelling.

If you have lots of fat which you wish to get removed in one session there are factors which will limit this. Generally speaking, it is up to you to talk with and agree on a certain amount of fat with your physician so it can be seen that you can remove as much fat as you like. However your physician will warn you of the negative effects which can occur my removing too much fat. The negative effects can be lumpiness or dent like marks in the skin, where too much fat has been ‘sucked’ out. Another negative is that the more fat that is removed, the higher the surgical risk becomes.

Generally speaking this is a relatively safe procedure, which can be performed under a general or a local anaesthetic; this is again down to the physician and patient to discuss, although the physician may say that one type is far more suiting than another. Despite it being a safe procedure, problems can occur, for this procedure to go as well as possible it can be wise to ensure that you are in good shape, not so much body wise but health wise. Also, it is important that you lead a relatively healthy lifestyle and have not smoked for a few months as these factors could create implications.

Currently there are two main methods which are used regarding liposuction. This list is not exhaustive, there are other methods which can be used however the two main methods will be focused on. The first method is wet liposuction, this is where a small amount of fluid is injected into the area you are receiving liposuction, and the amount of fluid is less in volume than the amount of fat you are looking to have removed. The aim of this fluid is to help loosen up the fat cells and reduce the bruising which will be part of the healing regime. After the fat cells are loosened up they will then be suctioned out as they would be in a basic procedure.

The second main type is super-wet liposuction. With this method, the amount of fluid injected is usually the same volume as the amount of fat which is getting removed. When people are looking to have high volumes of fat removed, this is usually the physicians preferred technique as it has several advantages. One potential disadvantage, depending on how you see it, is that if you have this method type, then you may be required to have IV sedation or complete anaesthesia which is not ideal for some people.

Clearly your physician will go through the various methods available, and will suggest which method type would best suit you. So if you are looking to find out more about the procedures and methods used it can be wise to book an appointment with a leading physician.

An important question rattling around in your head at the moment is probably recovery. Recovery times can often be what puts most people off of cosmetic surgery however liposuction is quite good. Obviously the recovery time will depend on the extent of your surgery and the amount of fat removed, although generally speaking, patients are normally able to return to their normal everyday lives within two weeks. A compression garment will be worn around the area operated on from two to four weeks. It is important to remember after receiving treatment that it is up to you to keep up a healthy eating and exercising regime.

It is important to go in with your eyes wide open and to know what you are getting your self in for. The procedure itself is fairly straight forward; the problem is the side effects which can occur after surgery. Some of these side effects are; bruising, swelling, scarring, pain, limited movement (depending on where you have the liposuction), and often a lot of pain. You will be prescribed pain killers however you should still be prepared to be in a bit of discomfort despite the pain killers.

As previously mentioned, there is no quick fix to removing unwanted fat cells. You can attempt exercising and struggle with that, or get liposuction and handle the pain afterwards; no way of removing fat is particularly fun or pleasant.

Although you will be able to see results after a few days or when swelling goes down, you may not see the full extent of these results until up to six months after, hopefully after reading this you are not still sitting there wondering ‘what is liposuction’!

This can be for several reasons, perhaps you are trying to lose weight but you have stubborn fat left around your stomach which makes you feel paranoid, or perhaps you have given birth and are left feeling self conscious about the way you stomach now looks. There are many reasons why we are not fond of our stomachs, regardless of what your reason is, know that you are not alone. More and more women (and men) are beginning to opt for tummy tuck surgeries.

This type of surgery looks to remove all excess fat and skin from your stomach, and also tightening your abdominal muscles. By opting for this type of surgery you can be left for a flatter stomach which is much firmer than before the surgery. Also if giving birth is a reason why you are self conscious, this surgery can reduce the appearance of stretch marks which you may have.

This is not the only reason people have this type of operation though. They can also be used to remove excess skin after you have lost a lot of weight. So if you have lost plenty of weight and have folds of skin left then this could be ideal for you.

When looking at any cosmetic surgery it is incredibly important that you remember this is not a quick fix solution to help you lose weight. You cannot have this surgery and expect to be able to not exercise. It is important to continue exercising and maintaining a healthy regime including diet and so on.

If you are looking for permanent results then you can achieve them from this procedure however as with anything you will need to continue to look after yourself. If you stop exercising and have a poor diet you must expect for the weight to come back.

If you are looking into this or are interested, you will need to do more than just look at information on the internet. Set up an appointment with a physician and talk through it properly. When it comes to cosmetic surgery you want to be 100% sure that it is what you want to do and understand what it is this procedure is going to entail. If you discuss with your physician what results you would like, your physician will be able to tell you whether or not this procedure is for you and whether you have realistic expectations.

There are alternatives to having a tucking procedure, such as liposuction, where the fat is sucked out. However sometimes having a tuck is preferred over this procedure as the tuck does not just merely get rid of excess fat which you have.

When preparing to have a tummy tuck, you must be ready to do anything your surgeon asks you to. For example, it is necessary to stop smoking for a certain amount of time prior to the operation so there are not implications with the operation and so your recovery is not slowed down by a chest infection for example.

The surgeon may also ask you to lose some weight, you want this tuck to be as effective as possible, so if your surgeon says lose 10lbs and then we will operate, you should be willing to do this. It is not a miracle procedure; you must expect to do something to achieve your desired look.

They may also ask you to stop taking any contraceptive pills around 6 weeks before your surgery. This is to limit the risk of blood clotting during recovery. It can sometimes be easy to forget that you are not taking your pill, so remember to use another type of contraception during this time!

A tummy tuck generally is done under a general anaesthetic which means that you be asleep during the whole procedure. It is likely that your surgeon will draw on you to give him a rough outline of what he is doing, and it is also likely that they take before and after pictures as sometimes it can be difficult to see changes within yourself in a mirror.

The operation itself will take around three hours, as there are several types of tummy tucks this may vary, depending on the amount of fat you want to be removed from your stomach.

The three main types are; standard tuck, mini tuck and extended tuck. The standard tuck is where cuts are made above your bikini line; the torn muscles will be pulled together and stitched in place. While the excess fat is removed, your belly button will be repositioned so that it is in an appropriate position after the tuck.

A mini tuck is where only the fat below your belly button is removed, so you will have one incision along your bikini line. The extended tuck is where fat from your abdomen and back is removed; you will have the same procedure as during a standard tuck, but with an extra scare around your back.

When recovering from this surgery it is likely that you will wear dressings over your stomach, sometimes for weeks after your surgery. You will also have a drip in your arm, which will stay in place until you heal enough and are able to consume enough fluids yourself. It is not abnormal to have feelings of discomfort or pain and you will be prescribed pain killers to aid you with this. After around ten days you will be able to do light activities such as walking, you are generally allowed to go back to work from 2-4 weeks after your surgery. All vigorous activity should be avoided for up to 6 weeks after your surgery.

Getting a tummy tuck can be a good idea, it will certainly provide you with the desired results however you must be aware of all aspects of a tummy tuck, know the risks, have realistic goals and most importantly remember that you must continue exercising and eating healthy to maintain a tighter, flatter stomach.

When it comes to our appearance, we all have features that we hate some more than others. Some of us look in the mirror and the feature we hate can nearly bring us to tears. A common problem along many is noses. So many of us think our noses are too big or too small for our faces, some are oddly shaped and some are upturned. There are so many variations, and so many reasons why you may feel slightly paranoid about your nose. If this is a problem which affects you, it could be wise to learn all about rhinoplasty.

Rhinoplasty is a nose reshaping or "nose job" operation, it can be done cosmetically to improve a person’s appearance, or to improve the function of a person’s nose for example after you break your nose you may not be able to breathe through it properly so will require reconstructive surgery. Sometimes work on the chin or cheek bones can help to enhance the aesthetic results you will receive from having a cosmetic surgical procedure.

As this procedure will directly affect the way you look and will be incredibly noticeable, it is important that you know exactly what you are doing. The most important thing you can do is book an appointment with a physician. Discuss what you would like to achieve and why, the physician can then tell you what you can realistically expect to achieve, and what they believe will be best for you. It is necessary that you understand fully how your nose will look after your surgery.

Before having the operation there are things to consider. If you currently have a cold, the flu or a cough then re schedule your appointment or operation after you have recovered. You will want to minimise the risk of infection and having a cold can increase this. Also smoking can slow your recovery so it can be wise to stop smoking several months prior to your procedure. Also be aware that your surgeon may take before and after pictures to show you the results as over the first few days you will be wearing a lint slip and will be unable to see the results.

About the operation itself: the operation generally will take two hours, but this will depend on the extent of the work you are having done and whether this is the only procedure. There are two types of rhinoplasty, these are; reduction rhinoplasty and augmentation rhinoplasty.

Reduction rhinoplasty is to make your nose smaller. To do this the surgeon will cut through the inside of your nostrils so that they can reach the bone and cartilage. To make your nose smaller some of this bone and cartilage will be removed, or it will be reshaped, depending on what you decided on with your surgeon. If you have having your nose made much smaller, it may also be necessary for your nostrils to be made smaller also to keep everything in proportion, to do this cuts in your nostrils will be made, which may leave small scars on each side of your nose.

Augmentation rhinoplasty is when you are looking to make your nose bigger or certain aspects of your nose more bulky. The same procedure is used; the skin on the inside of the nostril will be cut so the surgeon can reach the bone and cartilage. If you do not have enough cartilage in your nose to achieve the desired result, you may need to have a graft of cartilage or bone, usually this will be from either your ears, bone from the back of your elbow, a rib or your hip bone, although sometimes artificial implants are used.

After your surgery, you will have dressings in each nostril for several days, this is to prevent any pain or discomfort and so that your nose will heal properly. As well as this you can expect to wear a split over your nose for around a week this helps to support your nose so it will form and heal exactly how you want it too.

It is important to bear in mind certain things after you have had your surgery. It is not uncommon that you will have some small nose bleeds for a few days after your surgery. Keep your head upright as much as you can to prevent this and also steer clear of hot baths for a while. Unfortunately, you will feel a lot of pressure on your nose which will make you feel bunged up, there are sprays which can help however generally it is something you will have to grin and bear, but try sleeping upright on several pillows at night to take the pressure off slightly.

You have to be careful for the first week or so after your surgery. If you need to sneeze you have to try hard to cough it out as this will really hurt your nose! Also refrain from blowing your nose. If it runs tap it away gently with a tissue, with regards to sport and entering places which are dusty, avoid doing these until your nose is fully healed, or for at least six weeks.

There are a few things which you should look out for, and contact your physician immediately if any of these occur; bleeding that does not stop after 15 minutes, inability to drink, increasing or worsening pain and having a constant high temperature.

There are obvious side effects with rhinoplasty. These are soreness, bruising, stiffness and an inability to breath. Due to these being quite awkward side effects, and with the bruising commonly being around the eye area, it can often be wise to take time off work, at least until the bruising settles down and the pain begins to calm slightly.

Knowing all about rhinoplasty is key do not consider having this kind of surgery if you do not know much about it. Many people get impatient or fed up and remove their lint, be patient and stick to the care routine your physician lays out for you.

Liposuction costs can be surprisingly reasonable. This procedure has become a new way of life through the increases in technology. Society today is entirely focused on the here and now result that must be instant. People are more impatient than ever.

Liposuction allows for people to live with this impatience in happiness. Too many people are dissatisfied with their bodies and look to the quick and easy way out because the alternative seems far too demanding. Liposuction is accomplished through the development of a small tool that allows for the Doctor to be able to slice small holes in the fat and suck it out in such a way that will allow for the tubes to fall flat after. This end result will leave your body looking 100 percent better than before.

There are also many risks involved with liposuction. This is because it is a surgical procedure that you will be put under anesthesia for. As with any surgery there is a whole list of items and concerns you should be aware of that may be possible risk factors.

There are also many down sides to liposuction outside of the health risks and complications that could occur. There is the time and money that it will take out of your life visiting several doctors. You will also have to consider if your job will allow for you to take an extended period of time off in order to recover depending on what type of surgery you have done.

There are several different types of liposuction that you may have done. These types range from any and all places on your body. Many people are dissatisfied with several areas of their bodies and will choose to have multiple spots taken care of.

Technology and its incredible improvements over the years is what make all of this even possible at all. Previously this was an extremely dangerous surgery because there had not been so many advances in modern day medicine. However, there are now a limited amount of risks involved and more and more people are turning to liposuction for a wide array of reasons. So many people used to shy away from this process because of the health risks and not wanting to take such risks on unnecessary surgery. Fortunately doctors and researchers have been able to make several breakthroughs in order to minimize all of these concerns.

There are many different liposuction surgeons that specialize in various fields of the trade. You will want to first decide which procedure or procedures you will want to have done and then make a list of the most well known doctors in your area. You will want to read reviews on each of these doctors as well as have a consultation with the few that you have narrowed it down to. This will make you feel ultimately more comfortable with your final decision and that you have the most knowledge you could possibly gain about each doctor. You will also learn through this process what you do and do not appreciate about various doctors and what it is exactly that you are searching for.

You should also be very careful so as not to have an excessive amount of liposuction done. This is because there can be a whole separate list of health risks when too much of this type of surgery has taken place. This can also have counteractive affects on the way you were hoping your body would look. In the end it may look worse than when you started simply from trying to over-fix yourself. There is also a limit on the amount of procedures that one doctor will perform on any single patient. This is really to help the patient and their health in the long-run.

The total cost ends up depending on which procedure you have done. This is because there are so many different types that it is difficult to list the specific price of each one. However, the costs generally range anywhere from 1,000 dollars minimum up to about 8,000 dollars per procedure. Small liposuction procedures can be deceiving as far as the prices are concerned. This is because the smaller areas can actually cost quite a bit more than larger areas depending on the level of difficulty of the area you have chosen.

Overall, there are several things that you should consider before you decide to go through with liposuction. You should most likely try to speak with someone who has gone through the procedure already if at all possible. This will give you the best advice you will ever receive because it is from someone who has already experienced the process first hand. You will also want to discuss every aspect of the surgery in detail with your doctor. You should most likely create a list of your biggest concerns so that you will not leave anything out when you go to meet and discuss all of this with you doctor that you have previously decided on. There is no stupid question so you should never hesitate to ask any concern that may be bothering you. It is your body and you will have to live with the end result so you should be as informed as possible prior to surgery day. You should also try to have someone there at the hospital for after surgery with you. This will help to minimize your stress level and maximize your comfort level. You will simply want them there for moral support and to help cheer you up. Of course all of this is based on a case by case basis and some surgeries are more minimal than others. However, some do require serious work and will require an extended period of recovery in which you will need a significant person in your life to help you through this time. You will want to consider the timing of your surgery date so that it does not conflict with significant things you may have going on in other aspects of your life.

How can we avoid causing extra damage to ourselves, especially when we are considering cosmetic surgeries to aid us with our weight loss. One of the latest ways which has been made available to remove excess fat and sculpt the body is laser liposuction. This procedure sounds as though it has potential to be pretty painful, have you ever heard of it before? Many people haven’t heard of this procedure so would not even consider it.

This procedure is so simple that it can be done from the comfort of a doctor’s office with a simple local anaesthetic. This procedure has been designed to target specific pockets of fat, this type of procedure is perfect especially if you are looking for a cosmetic option to rid you of your excess fat which is not so invasive. They say that you should not opt for cosmetic surgery as a way to shed a few extra pounds, this is definitely the case with ordinary liposuction, however with the laser type you can use it as an alternative when you are struggling to lose the extra fat.

What it is has been vaguely discussed but you are probably sat there questioning yourself on how it can work. How can something which is not invasive help you get rid of excess fat? The heat of the laser is used to dissolve the excess fat. The laser can also be used to tighten the tissue in a particular area, so it can have a tremendous impact. The fat which is now liquefied is generally suctioned out of the specific area. It is common that small amounts of the liquefied fat to get absorbed into the body, but these will be excreted naturally. As this is such an innovative weight loss alternative, it is sometimes referred to as SmartLipo.

Are the differences between traditional liposuction that different to this new procedure however? Well, traditional liposuction sucks the fat out; the tube is inserted into the desired area and is pumped back and forth to suck out the fat. This procedure is invasive. After the procedure you can expect to have pain, discomfort, swelling and some bleeding as a side effect and healing process. However, the laser alternative, allows for the laser to melt the fat, which is simply suctioned out, so there is no destruction of tissue cells and you are likely to see far less bruising.

The laser procedure should not be used to get rid of large amounts of fat, if you are in good health and are not over weight, however have some excess fat you would like rid of then this can be perfect for you. Some areas which can be problematic are hips, inner thighs and lower back. As stated previously, the laser procedure can also tighten certain areas so will have twice the impact, fat reduction and firmer skin.

The procedure itself will last around an hour, although this depends on the amount of fat you are looking to have removed. Or if you are only having one area done, as due to this not being an invasive treatment you can have several areas done in one sitting easily, you may incur longer procedure times.

It is important to find an experienced qualified doctor. As this is a relatively new procedure you will want a good person performing it. Your doctor will mark the area, so they have an outline from which they can work with during the procedure. The tiny tube which contains the laser will be injected into your skin; it will be moved back and forth whilst the laser is activated. After this the liquefied fat will be sucked out. As mentioned previously this can also tighten the skin as the laser will affect the collagen in the skin as well as the excess fat cells.

As you will only be on a light anaesthetic, you will be able to walk out just hours after having the procedure. There is likely to be some slight swelling and perhaps some bruising however this will only be light and far better than that which you would get after traditional liposuction. After the procedure you will be required to wear a compression garment. You must be prepared to be left with small scars; however these will be no bigger than a small mole. You will see the results immediately after the procedure, and the results will continue to get better over time, especially once you have healed and can continue to exercise.

When looking into any type of liposuction it is so important that you have realistic expectations. Going for one sitting and expecting to look incredibly different may not be realistic. Expect to have more than one sitting. If you lose some weight prior to your procedure then the outcome of your procedure can look far better. After you have had your liposuction treatment it cannot be stressed enough how important it is to continue looking after your body. If you gain weight and do not exercise you will lose the results which you wanted so badly, which you paid for.

Although it can be a safer, better way to get rid of excess fat, you must bear in mind that it is not entirely down to the procedure to get you to a position where you are happy with your body. It can get rid of the excess fat but it is down to you to keep exercising to get the exact results you want.

Laser liposuction is one of the most innovative cosmetic procedures around at the moment and is definitely leading the way with regards to weight removing procedures. As with any cosmetic procedure it is important to ensure you have adequate knowledge of your procedure, realistic goals and realistic expectations of the work you will need to put in to keep the weight off.

There is a common misconception that the reason these develop, or why some men have them and others don’t, is due to a poor diet and poor exercise. Basically, most people think that these men get these from ‘letting themselves go’. Although this is not the case, if you are someone who suffers from this then you are aware that no amount of exercise seems to make it any better, what you probably don’t know is that it is actually a medically recognised condition, read below to find out all about gynecomastia.

The term gynecomastia derives from Greek words. The word gyne means "woman" and mastos means "breast." So in laments terms, this means abnormally large breasts on men.

Although in the medical world gynecomastia is a benign enlargement of the male breast resulting from an increase of the glandular component of the breast.

Gynecomastia is defined medically as the excess of a rubbery fatty mass which extends around the pectoral area giving the impression of women like breasts. The condition gynecomastia is recognisable by excess fat deposition without having glandular proliferation. Gynecomastia is usually bilateral.

Gynecomastia is fairly common in teenage boys, and a vast majority of the time symptoms disappear in a matter of months, or, as their teenage years come to an end, or perhaps a few years later. But the remaining minority are burdened with these symptoms remaining, which can really lower their body confidence.

Generally when you look around on the internet to find out more information regarding this, they are all written in medical jargon which is incredibly difficult to understand. For the purposes of this article they will be discussed in a way which everyone can understand them, if you want a more in depth discussion or proper medical information it is wise to go and see a doctor who can shine some light, in an understandable manner.

There are two main causes, which can either be physiologic or pathologic. Physiologic is seen in newborn infants, teenagers and older people.

Pathologic gynecomasatia is where there is a decrease in the body’s production of testosterone and an increase in the production of oestrogen. There are several conditions which can cause decreased testosterone production, some examples of these are; klinefelter syndrome, congenital anorchia, testicular trauma, testicular torsion, viral orchitis, kallmann syndrome and pituitary tumours.

These examples can seem a bit daunting, however do not panic. As stated previously most are benign, meaning that there is nothing directly to worry about health wise. However, sometimes it can be a warning sign that you have a serious medical disorder so if you are sitting reading this and have never gotten them checked out, it is best to do so to ensure that you remain on the safe side.

The main causes of this condition are; an imbalance of hormones – as has been discussed above, medication which includes estrogens or steroid compounds, or perhaps a failure of the liver to inactivate circulating estrogen.

Certain medications which you can get are able to promote indirectly the growth of your breast. This is due the the medication mixing up and unbalancing the estrogen and testosterone present in your system. This condition is a unwanted outcome of the treatment and medication you can be put on when you have prostate cancer. Drugs which are known to contribute or cause this condition are: hormones, cancer medication, cardiovascular drugs, antidepressants, drugs such as alcohol and marijuana.

Other factors which have been known to promote this breast growth is by the usage of drugs or alcohol. These are able to cause this condition as they sort of ‘fake’ estrogen and stimulate the production of androgen. Steroids and some other drugs which are used in excess can sometimes be converted into estrogen, which can lead to an increase in breast fat in men. To treat this breast growth, it may be possible to change your medication, although sometimes it may not be as simple as this.

Men whom are over the age of sixty tend to produce less testosterone which results in them gaining fat tissue that converts this into estrogen, which is why it is most common in elderly people.

Despite everything that has been mentioned, it is important to remember not to panic as only a tiny percentage of reported cases can signal big problems, in this small percentage of cases gynecomastia has signaled types of cancer. Tumours can produce extra estrogen which can in turn lead to a decrease of testosterone, so developing breasts can be seen as an early warning sign.

There are ways to treat this condition although the treatment which works for you will be dependent on a number of factors. The cause of the disorder is the most important factor. If the gynecomastia is from you taking some medication, stopping taking the said drug may be all that is needed or going on a drug with an adverse effect. If it is down to going through puberty unfortunately you are going to have to sit and wait, the problem may work itself out over time, it may not, although most cases do tend to rectify themselves over time.

Another factor to bear in mind is the length of time your breasts have been bigger than normal. The longer a patient has dealt with it the more normal it may seem, however if it is a recent thing they may be worried. A huge factor is the psychological effects it can have and how it can make men perceive their bodies.

In general, as with anything there are things to note about the side effects, or things to expect after receiving treatment, in this case these include: pain and comfortableness with the area being tender, embarrassment regarding your condition or emotional instability after years of dealing with it. The most effective therapy which you can receive is the having an operation to remove the excess tissue through a small incision. Some patients have more excess fat then others, in cases like this suction-assisted lipectomy is also likely to be used in the procedure to improve the results you will see.

Knowing all about gynecomastia is important, not just so you know to see a physician, but so you feel better within yourself about it.

A more youthful and fresher appearance is the result. In this article, Learning all about Blepharoplasty and its common benefits will be discussed for a better understanding of this type of surgery.

A surgical procedure known as blepharoplasty can reduce the excessive skin, fat, and muscle tissue that is found on both the upper and lower eyelids. While this is done most often for elective purposes such as cosmetic reasons, it serves useful for medical reasons as well.

When used for cosmetic reasons, the procedure reduces the look of unwanted wrinkles and puffiness around the lower eye area. This is caused from the skin losing its elasticity as an individual becomes older. Certain factors contribute to this such as genetics, aging, and the overall person’s body chemistry. While it will not remove wrinkles, it will enhance the appearance of the under eye itself and treat the droopiness.

Sometimes, drooping eyelids can cause vision impairment. The peripheral vision is affected by the excessive skin actually protruding over the eyelashes. When this occurs, driving, reading, and other activities may be affected. Ptosis, which literally causes the eyelid itself to droop, is a medical condition that is easily treated by undergoing this type of surgery.

The procedure usually lasts between one and three hours to complete. Outer incisions of the upper and lower eyelids are made and any excess material is then removed. The surrounding tendons and muscle may be augmented as well. Small sutures secure the incisions and leave almost invisible scarring to the surrounding site.

A Transconjuctival Blepharoplasty, involves removing the unwanted fat deposits but not the skin. An internal incision is made on the lower rim and most usually extends to the outer corner of the eye. Sutures are placed which will dissolve over time.

Depending on varying factors, either local or general anesthesia is used. Local anesthesia involves numbing the area. General anesthesia is where you are completely sedated and the person is asleep. It is performed as an outpatient procedure in a doctor’s office, surgical center, or hospital. After a few hours, the patient is then free to go home and resume the normal recovery period. Before this happens, bandages that have been thoroughly lubricated will be placed on the eyes.

Recovery varies between individuals and usually lasts for a few weeks following the procedure. Some can recover in as little as five to seven days. Different measures are taken to ensure a proper and healthy recovery. Medication is prescribed to reduce and ease discomfort that is often felt for a few days. Along with painkillers, an antibiotic is given to help eliminate an unwanted infection.

There are certain instructions that one should follow prior to the surgery. For best results, they should be followed accordingly. No eye makeup or contact lenses should be use until the doctor advises it is safe to wear them. Television and reading are prohibited until at least two to three days afterwards.

During the first two days of the recovery phase, an ointment will be given so the patient can keep the incisions that were made, well lubricated. Because of bruising and swelling, ice pads are advised. These need to be applied to the eyes while elevating the head. This will help the surgical site recover faster. Stitches are usually removed during this time frame.

On the third day, pads that are lukewarm should be applied to the eyes. This will ease any discomfort. Dark glasses are to be worn for at least a week following surgery due to environmental issues such as wind or harmful UV rays.

After the third day, patients may resume watching TV or reading. Bending at the waist will take five days. Normal activities are fine after seven to ten days. This includes going back to work. Lifting, exercising and other strenuous activities are not to be resumed until around three weeks.

Tearing, itching, a dry or burning sensation, sensitivity to light, double or blurred vision, may be experienced. These are all normal effects and will be eased with the use of lubricating eye drops. The whites of the eyes may appear red and splotchy. After two to three weeks, these symptoms should subside. If persistent, unmanageable pain occurs, contact your doctor immediately.

When choosing a surgeon, there are a few things you should consider. Make sure they have completed thorough training in both surgical and plastic surgery procedures. Continuing education credits are a must. Look at their credentials and check their rapport. Those who work in accredited, certified facilities are good to review.

There are a few advantages to consider. First, this procedure will give you the cosmetic results that you are seeking. This includes a brighter, more youthful appearance. If a medical condition is the cause of undergoing this surgery, such as Ptosis, a better quality of life is fulfilled. This includes treating the loss of peripheral vision.

The disadvantages include scaring, bruising for the first few weeks, and common recovery issues. These are watery eyes, blurred vision, and other effects. Although this procedure lasts for quite a few years and the fat deposits are completely removed, wrinkling, loosening of the surrounding skin and other aging effects may eventually return.

Those who are qualified for the procedure must be at least eighteen years of age and in good health. Certain eye conditions such as glaucoma or a detached retina are reasons not to have it done. Individuals with high blood pressure, thyroid problems, and issues with the circulatory system, are advised not to follow through with the surgery. As with any type of cosmetic procedure, realistic expectations of the outcome should be reviewed with the surgeon.

If a younger, more alert appearance is sought, consider talking with your physician to find out if this procedure is right for you. Ask how the recovery period, length of time, and any possible side effects may affect you. Consider the options available and inquiring all about blepharoplasty. Your surgeon of choice will determine if you meet criteria and whether or not this procedure is appropriate.

When people think about liposuction, they often think of surgically correcting what they believe to be flaws and imperfections on their body. Sometimes people think that the procedures used for these types of surgeries are seemingly simple and although they are correct, they often do not know exactly how the procedures are done. Often times plastic surgeons will give their patients pamphlets and brochures on liposuction before and after, so that they will know what they themselves may expect by having a procedure performed.

There are many factors which must be considered prior to having any type of plastic surgery or liposuction procedures performed. Persons with heart problems, diabetes, a weakened immune system, or a history of restricted blood flow or clots are not good candidates for any type of cosmetic procedure or plastic surgery. One must also take in to account whether or not their troubled areas can be fixed without surgery. In some cases people can achieve the look and shape that they want by simply exercising.

While the number of people who undergo this type of procedure grows yearly, something one must defiantly consider is its overall cost. Liposuction, just like any other form of plastic surgery, is rarely ever covered by insurance except in rare medical cases. It is because of this reason that you have to consider all options when it comes to financing and financially affording your surgery, because as the patient you are responsible for all costs in full for the surgery. The average cost of liposuction procedures range from fifteen-hundred dollars to seventy-five hundred dollars, however the total overall cost depends on how many treatments you undergo. This is why there are several financing options that are available through national credit companies for cosmetic surgeries such as this.

While many people believe that liposuction is a fast way to improve their physic, they often do not weigh the pros and cons of this particular type of surgery. Doctors preform liposuction with a small stainless steel tube which is called a cannula that is connected to an extremely powerful suction pump. The doctors mark out the area on the body where the liposuction is targeting, and after giving the patient anesthesia, the doctor then makes a small incision into the skin.

Once the incision is made, the cannula is then inserted into the fatty tissues and is then used to make tiny tunnels throughout the fatty tissue deposits. Fat from the tunnels that are made is sucked out through the cannula by the powerful suction pump. Once the operation is completed, the healing process begins, and soon the tiny tunnels collapse which reshapes the body’s contour. Liposuction removes a lot of fat cells; however it is important to know that it does not remove them all. It is also important to know that the healing process does not just happen overnight.

While this is the most commonly performed type of liposuction, one must also consider the other ways of preforming it. While each technique is different, they all use a cannula to remove Fat. PAL, which is short for Power assisted liposuction, is performed with a motor powered cannula. This allows the surgeon to use smaller movements and still achieve the same outcome all while making the surgical experience more comfortable for the patient. There are even ways to perform the procedure using sound waves to liquefy the fat prior to removing it, which makes it easier to remove and allows for more fat cells to be removed then the usual forms of liposuction. This particular procedure is called Ultrasonic Assisted Liposuction which is referred to as UAL for short.

No matter which procedure one decides to undergo, the truth of the matter is that some people see the benefit and change sooner than others. The visible differences and their length of time to show varies from person to person. This is because there are several factors to consider such as age, health, and overall skin elasticity. The key to successful liposuction begins with a healthy lifestyle after the procedure. While most fat cells are extracted, there is no guarantee that they will not return. One way to minimize the chances of fat cells returning is to eat right, and exercise. This is also a vital role in preparation of the surgery. People who practice healthy lifestyles prior to the procedure often experience shorter recovery times.

As with any type of surgical procedures performed, liposuction also has complications and risks. While complications are considered to be rare, one must understand that they are possible. Complications can include adverse reaction to anesthesia, nerve damage, infection, and even seizures. In order to effectively minimize any risks such as these is by having a thorough physical prior to undergoing the procedure. Bruising in or around the areas that were treated is a common side effect due to the cannula scraping throughout the tissues under the skin. This however often goes away as your healing progresses.

Keep in mind that while it may not seem so, liposuction is a surgical procedure and should be treated accordingly. Often times peoples self-esteem rises and they view themselves in a different light. For these people they benefit not only physically but emotionally as well. Many patients in fact report that their appearance has improved drastically since they underwent the surgery, and even have higher overall confidence in themselves again.

Healthy lifestyle choices are highly encouraged to everyone, especially post-operative patients. Just by exercising thirty minutes a day three to five days out of the week, can drastically improve ones psychic, as well as maintaining a moderate diet. These routines and activities not only help you maintain your figure, they also improve your health and help to prevent the onset of certain types of diseases. Liposuction surgeries can cost quite a bit of money, so if you are willing to splurge in order to treat yourself to this type of surgery the least you can do is to maintain your health and treat your body well by eating right and exercising.

Abdominoplasty is the technical term for a procedure commonly known as a tummy tuck. It is a surgical procedure that is down by a plastic surgeon doctor. The goal of tummy tucks is the removal of skin and fat in the abdominal region, with the tightening of muscles that surround the abs. There are many different types of tummy tuck procedures that are available, and there are some risks involved with this procedure. This article will cover this information, giving you information so you’ll know all about abdominoplasty.

Candidates looking for a tummy tuck should be near their ideal body weight. They should have maintained their current body weight for at least six months prior to surgery, and should be in good mental and physical shape. Often, a tummy tuck is needed after a person has gone through weight lost, and is unable to lose excess skin from their heavier weight. After giving birth, many women will opt for a tummy tuck because of flabby excess skin that doesn’t go away, regardless of diet or exercise.

The basic, complete tummy tuck is down in six steps, and takes about an hour to complete. The patient is put under anesthesia during the operation. A tummy tuck is done by cutting an incision from the patients hip bone to the other hip bone. The cut is usually below the swimsuit line, so that the scar doesn’t show. The doctor cuts the belly button free, and the excess skin is taken from the abdominal region. Muscles and skin are tightened, and further pulled tight by closing the incision. A new belly button is cut into the skin. In addition to stretching and tightening, most doctors will use liposuction to remove excess fat.

A less invasive tummy tuck is called a mini or partial abdominoplasty. The incision isn’t as long from hip to hip, and less skin is pulled and tightened. This procedure is for people who don’t need a dramatic amount of skin removed.

High lateral tension tummy tucks are are move intense than complete or mini tucks. They take around four hours in surgery to complete, and rather than just tightening muscles vertically as is done in the complete or mini procedure, they also tighten muscles horizontally. This makes the stomach much flatter and also makes the waist more defined.

Extended and circumferential tummy tucks are both more involved versions of the complete tuck. And extended abdominoplasty is a complete tummy tuck in addition to a thigh lift. The circumferential tuck is both complete and extended, and also includes a buttock life. If a patient elects for a circumferential tuck, they will be cut from their hips all the way around their body. This type of tuck is best of patients who have experienced dramatic weight loss, and have a lot of excess skin that needs to be removed.

Tummy tucks can be done at the same time as other plastic surgery procedures. Often, patients chose to have a tummy tuck as well as a breast lift, a breast reduction, or additional liposuction.

The recovery after this surgery can take anywhere between one and four weeks. If you have a more intense version of abdominoplasty, such as the high lateral tension procedure or the circumferential tuck, you can expect your recovery to be longer. Most patients complain of a general soreness or bruising around their abs. Many doctors will recommend that people in recovery wear a tight binding support band around their waist, which helps reduce swelling and adds support to the back.

Patients still recovering from abdominoplasty should rest and avoid heavy lifting and strenuous activity. It is suggested that bathing and showering is avoided until you doctor clears you. You will need to make sure you are walking regularly to avoid clots, but don’t strain yourself. A full recovery is expected in three to six months. The scar from the tuck will stay with you for life. The intensity of the scar may increase three to six months after the procedure, but will fade with time.

Any risk involved with surgery is associated with tummy tucks. The most common complications are blood clots, thrombosis, or cardiac problems. An additional risk is infection. It is not uncommon for fluid to build up under the skin after the tuck is completed, and if this occurs your doctor will need to drain it.

The cost of this procedure varies from country to country, and region to region. Most procedures in the United States start at about four thousand dollars, and the cost can reach up to twenty thousand. This type of cosmetic surgery is not often covered by medical insurance.

Finding a plastic surgeon who is trustworthy and experienced is crucial to having this procedure done. Ideally, the doctor will be board certified. In the United States, you should expect your doctor to be a member of the American Board of Plastic Surgery. As a minimum, you should expect your doctor to have knowledge of all plastic surgery procedures, not just tummy tucks, and have their medical practice in an accredited institution.

The results of surgery vary from person to person. If your skin is elastic and in good tone, you will have better results. Patients cannot expect their surgery results to stay if they don’t follow a diet and continue to exercise, and even after the surgery they should have realistic expectations.

Abdominoplasty has many different procedures related to it. To know all about abdominoplasty you need to understand the procedures, and know which one is best for you. If you just have a little extra flab from weight loss, you probably don’t need more than a complete tummy tuck. However, if you have gone through a major weight loss resulting in a high percentage of body fat loss, you might need more intense and invasive work done. A tummy tuck can dramatically change your appearance and make your self confidence rise, but anyone considering this surgery should be aware of the risks and costs. The key is finding a doctor who will understand your needs and make sure your recovery goes well.

The look and recovery after the liposuction is a life altering decision. This decision will affect the way you look permanently whether it turns out the way you wanted it to or not. This is a huge decision that you will want to weigh the pros and cons heavily.

More than likely you will have high expectations going into this whole process to begin with. However, you should try to keep your expectation slightly lower so that you are not thoroughly disappointed. This is a process, not an overnight quick fix. You will want to mentally prepare yourself for the road ahead.

You should also be thoroughly aware of what you are getting yourself in to. There is several health risks involved during this procedure no matter which type you decide to have done. Some types obviously being more dangerous than others. Not only are there health risks involved but there are also psychological risk at stake as well. This is because if the procedure does not go quite as planned you may be completely devastated. This would be a hard thing to bounce back from.

You should also know that it may take a full year before your skin has fully evened out the way that you were hoping it would to begin with. On average this process takes around six to twelve months to complete in entirety. This can be an unfortunate wait time, but the end result is more than likely worth the wait.

Unfortunately, this wait time and process does not always go as planned. There are risks involved during this stage as well. Sometimes a whole separate procedure is necessary in order to correct any defects that may have happened during this healing and evening out process. There is only a slight chance that this negative effect is a possibility, but it is nevertheless a possibility. Therefore, the patient should be thoroughly aware of the risk that they are taking that the procedure may not turn out quite as planned. No one wants to hear this news but it needs to be said. This is where clients end up getting their hopes up too high only to be let down in the end. However, if they are aware of all of these risks up front they can never say that they did not know that they may happen. Also, if they are aware of this possibility prior to it happening they will be more aware of what they can do about it and will be less likely to be afraid that something has gone terribly wrong and their health is at risk. Because this is not the case and the corrective procedure is not a big deal.

Another health risk involved is the possible loss of skin elasticity. This is an important part of every part of our body in order for it to bounce back and stretch and grow as we age. However, the part of the body that you are having surgery on may never recovery properly and will fail to regain its skin elasticity capability.

Fortunately there is way that you can correct this deficiency. However, it goes involve another procedure. Skin lifts are available for people who lack skin elasticity in certain areas due to a variety of factors typically involving old age. However, skin lifts do have risks and concerns all their own due to the fact that it is another procedure. When having any type of surgery whether it is cosmetic or necessary for your health, there will always be risks and concerns. You will want to address all of these issues with your doctor before surgery day in order to make you both feel more comfortable that you are doing the right thing.

The entire recovery process can vary on a case by case basis. This is because there are several factors that you must take into consideration. The patients prior health status and the typical recovery time on illness is a big factor. Also, the type of procedure itself will determine the approximate recovery time as well. Since there are a wide variety of procedures available it is difficult to directly state the recovery time for liposuction as a whole. However, on average most people are up and walking around in about one to two months even with large procedures.

After a few days have passed you will slowly start to feel better and better as times goes by. At this point you should feel more comfortable moving the wound slightly and possibly sitting up to eat real food. However, as previously stated this will depend completely on the person. Some people heal quite quickly and others get rather worked up in their heads about the ordeal and end up making matters worse for themselves.

The amount of time that you a lot yourself to rest will also dictate your recovery period as well. If you allow yourself the proper amount of rest time you will recover much quicker and more thoroughly and properly than someone who attempted to rush through the process. You will never want to completely return to your everyday routine including work and/or school until you and your doctor feel completely comfortable with this idea.

Overall, this can be a miraculous process for many people. For most it is the only way that they will ever actually achieve the true body that they desire. This is not necessarily the healthiest way in which to accomplish this ideal figure, but in most cases it is the only way. People every where are finally satisfied with the bodies and are able to walk around with their heads held high. This is an extremely important factor and the one in which doctors attempt to achieve. These doctors ultimately want their clients to be happy and have the most optimum levels of self-esteem possible. This is a hard thing to achieve. However, society places a great deal of pressure on ones outward appearance. Therefore, if you are able to achieve your ideal figure then you will have a greater level of self-esteem.
