Every day we are faced with new, better more innovative ways to remove the excess fat we have which we despise, but how do we know which are effective, and which are safe. How can we avoid causing extra damage to ourselves, especially when we are considering cosmetic surgeries to aid us with our weight loss. One of the latest ways which has been made available to remove excess fat and sculpt the body is laser liposuction. This procedure sounds as though it has potential to be pretty painful, have you ever heard of it before? Many people haven’t heard of this procedure so would not even consider it.
This procedure is so simple that it can be done from the comfort of a doctor’s office with a simple local anaesthetic. This procedure has been designed to target specific pockets of fat, this type of procedure is perfect especially if you are looking for a cosmetic option to rid you of your excess fat which is not so invasive. They say that you should not opt for cosmetic surgery as a way to shed a few extra pounds, this is definitely the case with ordinary liposuction, however with the laser type you can use it as an alternative when you are struggling to lose the extra fat.
What it is has been vaguely discussed but you are probably sat there questioning yourself on how it can work. How can something which is not invasive help you get rid of excess fat? The heat of the laser is used to dissolve the excess fat. The laser can also be used to tighten the tissue in a particular area, so it can have a tremendous impact. The fat which is now liquefied is generally suctioned out of the specific area. It is common that small amounts of the liquefied fat to get absorbed into the body, but these will be excreted naturally. As this is such an innovative weight loss alternative, it is sometimes referred to as SmartLipo.
Are the differences between traditional liposuction that different to this new procedure however? Well, traditional liposuction sucks the fat out; the tube is inserted into the desired area and is pumped back and forth to suck out the fat. This procedure is invasive. After the procedure you can expect to have pain, discomfort, swelling and some bleeding as a side effect and healing process. However, the laser alternative, allows for the laser to melt the fat, which is simply suctioned out, so there is no destruction of tissue cells and you are likely to see far less bruising.
The laser procedure should not be used to get rid of large amounts of fat, if you are in good health and are not over weight, however have some excess fat you would like rid of then this can be perfect for you. Some areas which can be problematic are hips, inner thighs and lower back. As stated previously, the laser procedure can also tighten certain areas so will have twice the impact, fat reduction and firmer skin.
The procedure itself will last around an hour, although this depends on the amount of fat you are looking to have removed. Or if you are only having one area done, as due to this not being an invasive treatment you can have several areas done in one sitting easily, you may incur longer procedure times.
It is important to find an experienced qualified doctor. As this is a relatively new procedure you will want a good person performing it. Your doctor will mark the area, so they have an outline from which they can work with during the procedure. The tiny tube which contains the laser will be injected into your skin; it will be moved back and forth whilst the laser is activated. After this the liquefied fat will be sucked out. As mentioned previously this can also tighten the skin as the laser will affect the collagen in the skin as well as the excess fat cells.
As you will only be on a light anaesthetic, you will be able to walk out just hours after having the procedure. There is likely to be some slight swelling and perhaps some bruising however this will only be light and far better than that which you would get after traditional liposuction. After the procedure you will be required to wear a compression garment. You must be prepared to be left with small scars; however these will be no bigger than a small mole. You will see the results immediately after the procedure, and the results will continue to get better over time, especially once you have healed and can continue to exercise.
When looking into any type of liposuction it is so important that you have realistic expectations. Going for one sitting and expecting to look incredibly different may not be realistic. Expect to have more than one sitting. If you lose some weight prior to your procedure then the outcome of your procedure can look far better. After you have had your liposuction treatment it cannot be stressed enough how important it is to continue looking after your body. If you gain weight and do not exercise you will lose the results which you wanted so badly, which you paid for.
Although it can be a safer, better way to get rid of excess fat, you must bear in mind that it is not entirely down to the procedure to get you to a position where you are happy with your body. It can get rid of the excess fat but it is down to you to keep exercising to get the exact results you want.
Laser liposuction is one of the most innovative cosmetic procedures around at the moment and is definitely leading the way with regards to weight removing procedures. As with any cosmetic procedure it is important to ensure you have adequate knowledge of your procedure, realistic goals and realistic expectations of the work you will need to put in to keep the weight off.
